Reacting to the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision on eminent domain—which literally put everyone's homes, business and church up for grabs—on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, hundreds of Americans rallied before the New London City Hall in support of the property rights of Susette Kelo, her neighbors and all property owners nationwide. Speakers included Scott Bullock, who argued the case for the Institute for Justice, members of the Coalition to Save Fort Trumbull, local attorney Scott Sawyer, the minority and assistant majority leaders of the Connecticut House of Representatives and the Fort Trumbull property owners themselves. The large crowd and high energy reflects the substantial disapproval citizens nationwide feel for the Court's decision and the momentum harnessed by our newly-launched Hands Off My Home campaign.
