The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program is under attack. 1,715 students are currently in the program and doing well, but Congress is refusing to re-authorize the program that has helped thousands of low-income families choose safe and effective learning environments for their children. This summer, 216 families received letters that their children would not be receiving the scholarships they were promised.
The D.C. OSP is overwhelmingly popular in D.C., and is key to ensuring school choice efforts continue to grow and thrive nationwide.
On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the D.C. Black Alliance for Educational Options is holding a rally in support of the program. This is the biggest demonstration planned yet - we need thousands to attend! It is absolutely critical that we have a massive turnout. We need to show Congress that the public supports school choice in D.C. and nationwide, and stands behind the 216 children in the District who were denied their scholarships this summer.
