HAN Opportunities
Where in the World is the Class of 2003?
Despite just finishing another successful Law Student Conference, already we are promoting the next, and you can help us find the best and brightest law students for the Class of 2003.
Please help promote IJ’s Law Student Conference by encouraging friends and colleagues to apply. The application is now online at www.ij.org. The application deadline for the conference is February 25, 2003.
Research New Avenues for Cutting-Edge Litigation
State law holds great potential for vindicating rights and advancing the IJ mission. To that end, IJ can always use the help of HAN members to compile thorough assessments of state law in the core areas that we litigate, especially economic liberty and property rights. State-level analyses are often critical for IJ attorneys to quickly evaluate potential cases, ensuring that we find the best new cases in a timely manner.
Writing a research memo on state law can be a useful and rewarding exercise for law students and lawyers alike. IJ is always willing to help certify work toward course credit for law students or state bar pro bono requirements for practicing attorneys. If you have a research idea or need opportunities to meet independent study or pro bono requirements, please let us know.

Lend a Helping HAN to Citizens in Need
On any given day, IJ receives about five potential cases. Although we do receive the occasional letter insisting "the government is sending electrical shocks in my brain via satellites," many requests involve real infringements on average citizens’ liberties and warrant legal representation. This gives us ample opportunities to pass along to HAN members to help advance liberty while fulfilling pro bono requirements. Please contact us for possible pro bono assignments.
For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact us at IJ at (703) 682-9320 . These are only examples of the many potential cases, research projects and writing opportunities we have to offer. If you are aware of other projects that need the attention of a lawyer, law student or policy activist, please let us know.
